In honor of Father's Day, this TT is 13 of my Favorite Things about my Dad!
1.) He was the baby of the family. With one brother, and one sister. My aunt and uncle were 10 and 12yrs older than him.
2.) He went to school to become an arcitect, but decided he couldn't sit at a drawing desk all day,( I get this from him, I can't sit too long either!). He dreamed of building his "Dream home" as a log cabin in Northern, CA.
3.) His prized posession, which he remodled himself after 20 yrs, was his '65 Mustang, it was beautiful. I learned to drive stick with it, but he didn't want to teach me, so my Mother did, Oh the memories!
4.)He spent most of his time reading. Authors like Louis L'Amour, Clive Cussler, and John Girsham(sp?). I remember now the book he would read to me and my brother was " Swiss Family Robinson".
5.) He taught me how to ride a bike and play chess! We played 'Spades' on Thursday nights!
6.) He could grill a mean Steak, and make the most awesome Omelettes on Sundays!
7.)He loved to listen to Donna Summer and the Theme song to 'Beverly Hills Cop', oh and the Beach Boys!
8.) He took us camping several times, he also helped me catch my first fish! There was one time, it was pouring down rain, and he had to shovel a trench around our tent to keep the water out!
9.) He was a devoted father , on several occasions I had to go to the emergency room for very urgent lacerations, I accidentally fell through our glass table top and cut my hand, and then accidentally kicked my brothers glass aquarium, anyways he stayed by my side while I got my stitches.
1o.) He loved the Rams, when they were good and were in L.A.!
12.)Dressed as the Incredible Hulk one year for Halloween!
13.)The funny thing about my father, he hated rice. He told us while he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, that he ate enough rice to last a life time, so my mom never made rice.He also taught me a few Japanese phrases.
There are so many more memories of this man. He was a gentle, kind man. He passed away at the age of 52, and I miss him very much.

Sounds like a great DAD. :) I don't think I did anything of those things with my DAD growing up. LOL
My TT is up if ya want to go read.
Fathers Day is not until September in New Zealand but Mothers Day is the same as the States.
My Dad was 52 when he died, it is too young isn't it.
Urgh... i hate my dad so this is like the most dreaded day of my life
Glad to see you can come up with such list abt ur dad... oh how i envy you
What wonderful memories of your dad, he must have had a good sense of humor. I was thinking of doing something similar on Sunday. We'll always miss our daddy's won't we?
That's a nice 13. Fathers day is not until September here in Australia. Mothers day is may I think
It was nice getting to know your dad a little here. Sounds like he was a cool one. ;)
What a nice idea for a TT. I didn't know my dad when I was younger (parents are divorced), but when I got older, I was surprised at how many traits I'd inherited.
Fathers day always comes close to my Birthday, so no seperate gifts for me...never mind my kids are sufficient for me :o)
Aww, you can tell you loved your dad. I wrote about my dad, too!
Sounds like a fun guy. My dad was stationed in Japan for three years, but never said anything to us about rice. He did know some Japanese, though.
thanks for visiting my TT.
Great tribute...your #1 sounds like OUR family.

You know the good ones always leave way too early...wonderful tribute to your dad, very special way to remember him. Father's day is on March 19 (St Joseph's) in Spain. Happy TT, thanks for dropping by!
My dad read me the Swiss Family Robinson too!! I think it was when I was sick with Scarlet Fever when I was 6. (Yeah, I know, who even gets that in this century?)
Sorry that he passed away at such a young age. I am thankful you have the memories you do.
Great list to honor him!
Thanks for visiting my TT!

My own dad was pretty rocking too.
Sorry I'm here late; spent yesterday hanging out with my daughter.
