We had a really nice day today! He woke me up to let me know he made coffee for me, and these were waiting for me when I got up, with a card and some chocolate! I was surprised, because I thought he would forget.
I got him a card and a movie he'd been wanting. I've spent my day going over the years I've known him, and for some reason to me time stands still. The one song I love is Randy Travis's...
Forever&Ever Amen
You may think that Im talking foolish
Youve heard that Im wild & Im free
You may wonder how I can promise you now
This love that Im feeling for you always will be
Youre not this time that Im killing
Im no longer one of those guys
As sure as I live this love that I give
Is gonna be yours till the day that I die
-- oh baby
Chorus...
Im gonna love you forever, forever & ever amen
As long as old men sit & talk about the weather
As long as old women sit & talk about old men
If you wonder how long Ill be faithfull
Ill be happy to tell you again
Im gonna love you forever & ever, forever & ever amen
They say that time takes its toll on a body
Makes the young girls brown hair turn grey
But honey, I dont care, Im not in love with your hair
And if it all fell out well Id love you anyway
They say that time can play tricks on a memory
And people forget things that they knew
But its easy to see its happening to me
Ive already forgotten every woman but you
--- oh baby
Chorus......
Just listen to how this song ends
Im gonna love you forever & ever forever
& everForever & ever forever & ever amen
And here are a few quotes that I really like!
The difficulty with marriage is that we fall in love with a personality, but must live with a character. ~Peter Devries
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. ~Mignon McLaughlin
Never go to bed mad. Stay up and fight. ~Phyllis Diller, Phyllis Diller's Housekeeping Hints, 1966

Hope everyone had a great day!

After reading some of the posts today, from Blogging Chicks. I thought I'd post some of
My Favorite Things that I like to do with my kids (my family)!
With my husband, I like doing things with him. Our 7 yr. anniversary is tomorrow, and we haven't always be able to do things we like to do together, but he knows I like to get out! Even though he hates Italian food, if I'm in the mood, he won't complain Too Much! I also like to go with him to Home Depot and Lowes, 2 of his other Home Away from Homes, and I don't complain too much! Neither one of us are big sports fans, we'd rather go to a Music Concert. My favorites would be Country music, his would be '80's Rock Bands or Old School Rap groups!
With my oldest Marissa. She's not a big shopper, she's like me and likes to go places, and enjoys doing things. From the time she was born, I could take her into a restaurant, and she knew how to behave. It helped since I worked in restaurants, and liked to go out to eat! So, when she feels like having Mommy and Me time, Yes, even at 12, she still likes to spend time with me....Actually I'm amazed....but I take her to Olive Garden, which is our favorite restaurant, since my husband hates Italian....and the movies. Usually a Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings.
My son Joshua, being that he's a sports fan and I'm not, but being his Momma, I'll attend any sports event he's in....Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Football..I'll be there. Oh he likes to bowl too! I love how when he gets a Strike, and he gets that gleam in his eye, and that happy smile that He did it!
My 3yo Katelyn is the shopper! She loves to shop for clothes, and purses and shoes...She's my girlie-girl. She also likes going to the park and having picnics. Her favorite thing to do is use her imagination, so we have tea parties with her imaginary friends, and play dressup...
Now even though the baby is only 5 mos. old, my favorite things to do with her are cuddling before she takes a nap, feeding her ( she loves to eat!) , she just now learned how to Bounce, so she loves to bounce in my lap! Oh and Bathtime, she does have fun splashing Mommy!
These are a few of the favorite things I like to do with my family!

This was too much fun! This is "Bling on the Beach" page kit from Digital Scrapbook Place. What I liked about it are the jeweled Seahorse and Starfish. The gorgeous Turquoise background is my favorite! I'm still learning how to use PSP, but I'm learning alot by just playing around!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
*EDITED*
I switched pics. I entitled this "Playing with the Dolphins!"

What's the funniest dream you can remember having?
I really haven't had any recent dreams. I'm so tired when my head hits the pillow!

If you were a dog, what breed would you be, and why?
I'd be a Golden Lab! I'm very loyal, and the Golden part,
because I have an occassional blond moment now and then!
Salad
Continue this sentence: "I get confused when..."
I don't have my coffee in the morning!
Main Course
Name two things that need to be done, but you are procrastinating in completing.
Cleaning the kids rooms, and calling the insrurance company about my son's insulin pump supplies. I'm begining to hate talking to insurance companies.

When was the last time you tried something new, and what was it? Digital Scrapbooking. It's so much fun, and I don't have to worry about my 3yo getting into all the supplies.

Global Warming!
One good thing about our trip to Vegas was the weather. I hadn't thought about it, but it was monsooning and overcast there. I'd say high 90's maybe around 100F. But OMG, it was 118F here in AZ this past weekend. Friends and Family in CA tell me how HOT the heat wave is there and that Temps are rising to 112F!!
That's just insane. We've had 3 deaths related to the heat, but most of Californians have no A/C, or at least we didn't growing up.
So a few questions for Y'all!
1.) How hot is it where you are!
2.) What are you doing to stay cool!
Trying to stay cool in AZ!
This is sooo me!

Here are a few pics I uploaded to Flickr. You can see them here LAS VEGAS TRIP 2006! The Rose boquet was the display in the lobby at the Mirage were real roses. The arrangement of Orhids and I know the name of the flower as one of the flowers from Hawaii, but the name is escaping me now were real ,and there had to be about 20 of them lining the walkway to the Dolphin exhibit. Theywere gorgeous.

MY 'LIL Chubby angel baby!

These three dolphins are females, the males were kept separate. Their names are Duchess, Sage, and Huff' N' Puff!

There are plenty more pics. I'll have them posted soon.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The kids had a blast! First I have to say my husband changed his mind. He really did not want to go to CA. His aunts were telling us to wait until December, becuase the weather was real hot and the kids would be miserable. Where did we go then? On a last minute trip to Las Vegas. The first night we stayed at the Paris hotel, which was beautiful, and the second night we stayed at Circus Circus. My husband gambles a little, but he had more fun at The Adventuredome in Circus Circus. It was somewhat like Knott's Berry Farm. The day we left, I took the kids to The Dolphin and White Tiger habitat at The Mirage. Now that's where I would stay next time. They loved the Dolphins. One recomendation, the price for the trip to the Eiffel Tower is expensive, and not worth it IMHO. I would think at night would be a much better view. The best meal we had was the $5.95 Prime Rib at the Hooters Hotel. There was also a Circus Act the kids liked, except my son wanted to get back to playing all the games. One other thing we did was to visit the Lion exhibit at the MGM Grand Hotel. We also stopped by the Hoover Dam on the way there. We were amazed at how low the water level was. We drove up and down the strip to avoid the crowds and the people handing out all the flyers. What I liked best is that we had fun togetether as a family! I'll post a few pics as soon as I find out where my husband has them saved!

While visiting some T13s this week, and seeing how I am soooooooo looking forward to our vacation this week Thanks to Ocean Lady, for sharing what she found from Neal Boortz! This only confirms I seriously need a Vacation! I am not sure exactly how it works, but this is amazingly accurate. Read the full description before looking at the picture. The picture on the next page has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress level at St. Mary's Hospital. Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study of a group revealed that in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical, a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. If there are many differences found between both dolphins, it means that the person is experiencing a great amount of stress. Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences, you may want to take a vacation.

I was so surprised this morning when my husband didn't go to work! He surprised me and took the week off! I've been planning on taking the kids to Calif. this coming weekend. We weren't sure if he could get the time off or not. He wouldn't be able to get a full 40hrs. until Aug. 15, but his boss just gave it too him early, so he gets to come. YAY!Which I really wasn't looking forward to going by myself with the 4 kids. We all haven't had a vacation together in 6 yrs. and I haven't had one in 3, so I'm really looking forward to this trip. So we're leaving very early Thursday morning and coming back sometime Sat. My aunt convinced us to wait until the beginning of December to do Disney, so I promised the kids to take them to the beach. My sister in law and aunt both suggested Coronado in San Diego, so we'll do that in the morning, and then head over to the Disneyland Hotel, have dinner and walk around and wait for the fireworks. We'll also visit my husband's 4 Aunts who still live out there. One in Corona, and the other 3 in Orange County. So for this Monday Memory, I want to tell you about how my husband and I met! First I had a hard time deciding which memory to tell, so next Monday I'm dedicating to my Dad's German Shepard. That dog meant the world to my dad, and he was a very loyal companion. I'm pretty sure I have a pic of him around the house I can scan. Thinking back after knowing my husband half my life, we both agree that we were destined to be together. Even though we get into our fair share of disagreements, we have some great memories. Going back a ways, I went to K at an Elementary School down the street from our house. I went there until 3rd. grade. Then my parents switched schools for us to go to a new school which was better and closer for our dad to take us, because it was on his way to work. Where is this going, you might ask....Well, year after year of driving to the Elementary School, and then the Junior High School around the corner from the Elem. School, we had to pass my husband's house he grew up in, every day. We lived not 5 min away from each other growing up. He actually went to the same Elementary School and Junior H.S. my Mom went to. Talk about it's a small world. Now in H.S. my first job was at a mall close by. The restaurant got sold, and I had to find a new job. I decided to walk in and apply at a Marie Callendars. I got an application from my husband's friend who also worked there. My husband was working the counter and I sat down and ordered something from him while I filled out my application. I got hired as a hostess, while my husband and his friend were servers. Turned out my husband's friend wanted to ask me out first, but chickened out, so my husband who has always been a friend to me asked me out. That was 15yrs ago. What's really cool is that some of his friends he went to school with, I went to High School with, and the friends I went to school with, ended up going to the same H.S. he went to ....So we traveled in the same social circle without knowing we'd be destined to be together. To seal my belief in our destiny, the day we got married, I'd mentioned this before, but I felt as we were driving to the chapel, the marriage certificate flew out the window, and then suddenly flew back in. I know it was 2 close family friends, Franny and Kendall, and my father who pushed it back in. Of course there is quite a lot more to our story, but I'll share that with you another Monday!
Pics of Josh's party are below! My husband and I did get to go see Pirates! The ending was great! We both agreed they set the ending perfectly for the next movie! I loved the scenery, and the special effects were amazing! I recognized the actor who played Davy Jones . Johnny and Orlando were great! It was good to see ALL the characters from the first movie! It was different to see Elizabeth play more of a Pirate roll, but I think she pulled it off great! I won't go so far to say it was better than the first one, but definetly worth the anticipation. We both enjoyed ourselves! What I thought was really cool is how it seemed in the movie while your watching, feeling like you're riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland! Brought back a lot of good memories! Grandma got to sit with the kids for a 'lil bit. She said the baby was really good and only started to cry when Katelyn and Josh said Mommy and Daddy are home! As if she understood what they were saying! I'll post a Monday Memories a little later! Everyone have a great Monday!

Saturday, July 15, 2006

Here are some of the pics from the party. Josh had a great day! My mom took him to see the movie Cars. We bought him a couple games for PlayStation,my In-Laws gave him some money and clothes. My father-in-law asked him how old he was and Josh said SIX with an accent, and my FIL thought he said he was SICK!! My nieces and the kids all played nicely. My husband was in his glory grilling steaks, and Brats for the adults, and hamburgers for the kids. It was a really nice day. The monsoons rolled in and it rained for all of 5 min., but it cooled off a bit. Hopefully it won't be too humid tomorrow. Tomorrow my mom's watching the kids so my husband and I can go see Pirates and have a nice dinner out at Olive Garden for my Birthday!!
Hope everyone is having a Great Weekend!

Me,Josh and Lindsay!

Beautiful banner courtesy of Denise!
This Thursday is extra special for me. This Thursday is July 13, and on this day 6 yrs. ago, my son Joshua was born. He's got this personality that reminds me of the energizer bunny. He just keeps going, and going, and going!! He also has the most gorgeous blue eyes, I've ever seen. He's got the best of both worlds, I tease my husband he's going to be a computer/jock...He's a whiz on the computer, and he's great at sports. He loves to play baseball, and basketball, loves to bowl and golf.
1.) The day he was born I needed to be induced. The pain was very intense, and I got the shakes really bad, my husband thought I was the exorcist.-2000
2.)He learned to walk on Mother's Day,2001! Right to me!
3.)He is the pickiest eater! The boy can eat P,B&J sandwiches everyday of his life! He hates mashed potatoes or any potatoe for that matter, except potato chips.
4.) Like I said he's a whiz on the computer. One day my husband came home, and asked me why I had downloaded so many free video games from MSN...Wasn't ME! He figured it out at
3 yrs. old!
5.) He inherited my husband's clutzy gene, if there is such a gene to describe the boy has two left feet. And has absolutely no depth perception. Like in the movie Shark Tale, he could trip on air!
6.) Did I mention he amazes me on how he handles dealing with being a diabetic. He checks the carb count, and knows how much insulin to give himself, at 5yrs. old, the nurses are even amazed at his school.
7.)He reminds me of Dennis the Menace. Getting into trouble, but I can't get mad no matter how hard I try!
8.) I ask him who loves him, and he always replies, You do Mom! Then I ask him, If I love him Just a Little! And he tells me No, Bunches and Bunches, and then gives me a big squeeze!
9.) You can tell Diabetes doesn't slow him down. Sometimes I ask God why he didn't send me a child who wasn't always going. A child like my oldest who was so much more calm and not as restless, with less energy!
10.) 2 of the Funniest things he's come up with are
His BloodSugar was High, and I asked him if he was Sneaking Potato Chips, He tells me NO, he only touched the bag! If you can believe that!
His BloodSugar was High at school, and the Nurse asked him Why! He tells the Nurse, My mommy forced me to eat Sugar Cereal! Like any child has to be forced to eat Lucky Charms!
11.) When he was born, I thought something was wrong with him. He was pure white, I thought he was either an albino or a ghost! Now he's a blondie, and starting to get a nice tan! Don't know why, but his nickname was Casper for awhile!
12.) There is no love like his. He always likes to cuddle. He gives great hugs and will give a kiss now that he's in 1st grade under protest, but tonight we went shopping , and he held my arm.
#13 I'll post a pic tomorrow of him after his Party!

Monday, July 10, 2006

This Monday, I'm sharing 2 memories of my son. The first one is of the day he was born, which I posted in April, here's the link Monday Memories: Part 2 . It was the first time I'd been induced, and the first time I'd ever had an epideral, which is heaven by the way, if it's done correct the first time. The second memory of him is not funny at all. Sometimes, I find it one of those things that God allows in our life for whatever reason, we have no idea WHY, but as there is a reason for everything, I try and accept it the best I can. I've mentioned before, that my son is a Type 1 diabetic. Which basically means his Pancreas does not produce insulin to help break down carbohydrates into energy. All sugar is carbohydrate, but not all carbohydrates are sugar. Most of everything he eats, like bread, milk, potatoes, ice cream, rice, anything with carbohydrates, he needs to have injections of insulin to help break these foods down for energy, otherwise the sugars build up and become keytones which are poison to his body. Enough of the Medical lesson. If your'e still reading, the story is about the events leading up to how we found out he was diabetic. My 3yo. was born in March of 2003. I started to potty train my son, but was finding it a little hard, because he would soak through his diapers, and he was constantly thirsty. My son was a tank. He was built very stalky. Then all of the sudden he lost so much weight and got really skinny. My mother remarried in August, and my son cried the whole day. My grandmother mentioned that she felt there was something not quite right with him, but we couldn't put our fingers on it. According to his doctor when we brought him to the ER the day after Christmas, he had only been completely diabetic for about 2 wks. We look back at pics of him and he looked so sick, if it hadn't been for my husband who is also a Type 1 diabetic, suggesting to test his BS, my son would have ended up in ICU, the nurses told me he was very close to going in, and they had seen many worse cases, which made me think why didn't I see it before. The road hasn't been an easy one. My husband was 12yo. when he was diagnosed. I've been trying to get my son to recognize how he feels when his Blood Sugar is low to tell someone ASAP. Dealing with a teacher, who doesn't quite understand the importance of testing his blood, let alone, informing me when he was having a party at school, or when he puts in his mouth is important for the school nurse to know.....but she just didn't get it! The end of this story is, it's getting better all the time. He's on an insulin pump now, so he doesn't get stuck with a needle 6-8 times a day, only if his there is a problem with the pump, and I change that 2 or 3 times a week. He's always been great about not giving me a hard time with testing his blood or shots, but now, he knows how to work his pump with my supervision. This year he starts first grade, and will need to visit the nurses office every 2 hrs. to test his blood, and I told her I gave her credit, because there are 8 diabetics at his school, and she has them all scheduled as to what times they come in...Anyways, it's so great to see him growing up with it and that he's taken on quite a lot for being so young in taking care of himself. I realize and thank God, that it could be worse. That it wasn't cancer, and that Diabetes is somewhat to a point manageable, but I wouldn't wish any child or adult to have to deal with what my son and husband have to go through every day...The funny part of this story is my husband tells me the the other day...I only have to deal with are a few gray hairs and wrinkles....True! I do thank God for my husband too, because without him, I'm not sure if I'd ever made it through this far. I'm sure I could if I had too, but It's nice to have his support in helping me understand Diabetes better.
I hope everyone has a great Monday!

My son, Joshua's Birthday is Thursday, and I've always been interested in Scrapbooking, but I've allready got so much stuff, I couldn't see myself trying to store all the supplies needed, plus I could just see my 3 yo. 'lil angel girl getting in to it all. This is something I could get into. Not sure if this is the New Thing, but I'm really starting to like digi scrapping.

This design is from www.digitalscrapbookplace.com .

The pics are from when Josh was 5mos old, and his K pic.

Can you imagine how happy I was to see these Dark Pink Verbena thriving! It has been so Hot and so humid, I thought they'd burn up for sure, but they seem to like the heat. Just as it looks like it's going to rain, NOTHING! The kids planted their own seeds. My son planted some sunflowers and my oldest daughter chose some Cosmos. The smile on his face when he saw them pop up was great, but then he got this kind of sad look. He looks at me and says, "Where are all the petals?"
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Thankyou again to YellowRose for the beautiful banner! 13 Friendship quotes I'd like to share! My sister-in-law sent me pics of my nieces this week, got me thinking about, she may be family, but I'm also lucky to have her as a friend. We've traded baby clothes, and baby swings. She hates when I tell the story about the first time I met her, she was 12 and rollerskated in her house, with ponytails and chewing gum. Now she's 28, and a fantastic mother, sister, and friend. So this week I'm dedicating these friendship quotes to her and my nieces, may they be more than sisters, but best friends! 1.)A friend is a present you give yourself. -- Robert Louis Stevenson 2.)A friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.-- Anonymous 3.)A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world. -- Leo Buscaglia 4.)Friendship doubles our joy and divides our grief.-- Swedish proverb 5.)A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.-- Walter Winchell 6.)Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.-George Eliot 7.)In prosperity, our friends know us; in adversity, we know our friends.-John Churton Collins 8.)Never Explain — your Friends do not need it and your Enemies will not believeyou anyway.-Elbert Hubbard 9.)Tis the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense, and have her nonsense respected- Charles Lamb 10.)No man will ever bring out of the Presidency the reputation which carries him into it...To myself, personally, it brings nothing but increasing drudgery and daily loss of friends.- Thomas Jefferson 11.)A friend is someone who dances with you in the sunlight, And walks with you in the shadows-Unknown 12.)He was a true friend, he stabbed me in the front-Unknown 13.)Be true to your work, your word, and your friend-Henry David Threau

A few words about these Lantana. My daughter and husband both agree, that these will not survive the week! I'm hoping to prove them wrong , that I do have a Hidden Green Thumb deep within me, and I can grow a garden into a desert oasis, or keep a plant alive longer than a week in the least. This pic will be the first of many. I'll be posting one every Sunday. I joined Tricia's . I also bought some Red,White, and Blue Verbena for the Holidays, but becuase of the Monsoons,( no they haven't died ) the blossoms were blown off, I'm hoping to get a great pic of it for you soon.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! The kids had fun this weekend, swimming. Our friends came over for some steaks and burgers. My oldest daughter made these incredible brownies..Yummmmm! As the fireworks were bursting in the air, it reminded me of when my son was 3 yrs. old. We were sitting on the edge of the pool, watching as the fireworks exploded, and my son starts to cry! The loud KA-BOOMs, were scaring him, and he kept telling me and my MIL to TURN THEM OFF! It was so cute, he wanted us to turn the fireworks off! Monsoon season is here now too! ThankGod we got about 10 min. of nice rain, not sprinkles, and not little drops that burnt on impact, but RAIN! That's my little story for the day! Everyone have a goodnight!

I'd like to send out a Great BIG ,"Thankyou!" to Neurotic Mom, for the great time I had visiting her! How she found time to be my hostess, take care of sick kids, fix broken glasses, and still she posted some funny pics and stories. I enjoyed staying with her and her comments...I'll be stalking , I mean checking back in on her for a laugh or two! If you have time this weekend, do Stop by and visit her!
I finally get a chance to post. I've just been so busy last night and this morning getting everything ready for this weekend. The only thing I have left to do is clean our front and back patios, which I'll do Monday. Tomorrow ,I'm just gonna kick back and swim with the kids . I can't believe it's July already. I know this month is going to fly. My husband got Monday off too, so it'll be a nice long weekend. My mother is going to the Grand Canyon with her husband and his brother and wife. We'll probably go out to Maricopa,AZ to visit my In-Laws. Then on Tues. we have friends coming over for a BBQ. Usually, I let the kids go for a night swim, and we watch the fireworks from Tempe Town Lake from our pool. It's really cool. The monsoons have been blowing in with Thunderstorms, but NO RAIN!! Hopefully soon they'll come to give some relief from this HOT weather. To be honest, it's been 106F in CA, my aunt says with 50% humidity , so I'll take the weather just the way it is. Whatever you are doing this weekend, have a great one!
