This was too much fun! This is "Bling on the Beach" page kit from Digital Scrapbook Place. What I liked about it are the jeweled Seahorse and Starfish. The gorgeous Turquoise background is my favorite! I'm still learning how to use PSP, but I'm learning alot by just playing around!

I was so surprised this morning when my husband didn't go to work! He surprised me and took the week off! I've been planning on taking the kids to Calif. this coming weekend. We weren't sure if he could get the time off or not. He wouldn't be able to get a full 40hrs. until Aug. 15, but his boss just gave it too him early, so he gets to come. YAY!Which I really wasn't looking forward to going by myself with the 4 kids. We all haven't had a vacation together in 6 yrs. and I haven't had one in 3, so I'm really looking forward to this trip. So we're leaving very early Thursday morning and coming back sometime Sat. My aunt convinced us to wait until the beginning of December to do Disney, so I promised the kids to take them to the beach. My sister in law and aunt both suggested Coronado in San Diego, so we'll do that in the morning, and then head over to the Disneyland Hotel, have dinner and walk around and wait for the fireworks. We'll also visit my husband's 4 Aunts who still live out there. One in Corona, and the other 3 in Orange County.
So for this Monday Memory, I want to tell you about how my husband and I met!
First I had a hard time deciding which memory to tell, so next Monday I'm dedicating to my Dad's German Shepard. That dog meant the world to my dad, and he was a very loyal companion. I'm pretty sure I have a pic of him around the house I can scan.
Thinking back after knowing my husband half my life, we both agree that we were destined to be together. Even though we get into our fair share of disagreements, we have some great memories. Going back a ways, I went to K at an Elementary School down the street from our house. I went there until 3rd. grade. Then my parents switched schools for us to go to a new school which was better and closer for our dad to take us, because it was on his way to work.
Where is this going, you might ask....Well, year after year of driving to the Elementary School, and then the Junior High School around the corner from the Elem. School, we had to pass my husband's house he grew up in, every day. We lived not 5 min away from each other growing up.
He actually went to the same Elementary School and Junior H.S. my Mom went to. Talk about it's a small world. Now in H.S. my first job was at a mall close by. The restaurant got sold, and I had to find a new job. I decided to walk in and apply at a Marie Callendars. I got an application from my husband's friend who also worked there. My husband was working the counter and I sat down and ordered something from him while I filled out my application. I got hired as a hostess, while my husband and his friend were servers. Turned out my husband's friend wanted to ask me out first, but chickened out, so my husband who has always been a friend to me asked me out. That was 15yrs ago. What's really cool is that some of his friends he went to school with, I went to High School with, and the friends I went to school with, ended up going to the same H.S. he went to ....So we traveled in the same social circle without knowing we'd be destined to be together. To seal my belief in our destiny, the day we got married, I'd mentioned this before, but I felt as we were driving to the chapel, the marriage certificate flew out the window, and then suddenly flew back in. I know it was 2 close family friends, Franny and Kendall, and my father who pushed it back in. Of course there is quite a lot more to our story, but I'll share that with you another Monday!

This Monday, I'm sharing 2 memories of my son. The first one is of the day he was born, which I posted in April, here's the link Monday Memories: Part 2 . It was the first time I'd been induced, and the first time I'd ever had an epideral, which is heaven by the way, if it's done correct the first time.
The second memory of him is not funny at all. Sometimes, I find it one of those things that God allows in our life for whatever reason, we have no idea WHY, but as there is a reason for everything, I try and accept it the best I can. I've mentioned before, that my son is a Type 1 diabetic. Which basically means his Pancreas does not produce insulin to help break down carbohydrates into energy. All sugar is carbohydrate, but not all carbohydrates are sugar. Most of everything he eats, like bread, milk, potatoes, ice cream, rice, anything with carbohydrates, he needs to have injections of insulin to help break these foods down for energy, otherwise the sugars build up and become keytones which are poison to his body. Enough of the Medical lesson. If your'e still reading, the story is about the events leading up to how we found out he was diabetic.
My 3yo. was born in March of 2003. I started to potty train my son, but was finding it a little hard, because he would soak through his diapers, and he was constantly thirsty. My son was a tank. He was built very stalky. Then all of the sudden he lost so much weight and got really skinny. My mother remarried in August, and my son cried the whole day. My grandmother mentioned that she felt there was something not quite right with him, but we couldn't put our fingers on it. According to his doctor when we brought him to the ER the day after Christmas, he had only been completely diabetic for about 2 wks. We look back at pics of him and he looked so sick, if it hadn't been for my husband who is also a Type 1 diabetic, suggesting to test his BS, my son would have ended up in ICU, the nurses told me he was very close to going in, and they had seen many worse cases, which made me think why didn't I see it before.
The road hasn't been an easy one. My husband was 12yo. when he was diagnosed. I've been trying to get my son to recognize how he feels when his Blood Sugar is low to tell someone ASAP.
Dealing with a teacher, who doesn't quite understand the importance of testing his blood, let alone, informing me when he was having a party at school, or when he puts in his mouth is important for the school nurse to know.....but she just didn't get it! The end of this story is, it's getting better all the time. He's on an insulin pump now, so he doesn't get stuck with a needle 6-8 times a day, only if his there is a problem with the pump, and I change that 2 or 3 times a week. He's always been great about not giving me a hard time with testing his blood or shots, but now, he knows how to work his pump with my supervision. This year he starts first grade, and will need to visit the nurses office every 2 hrs. to test his blood, and I told her I gave her credit, because there are 8 diabetics at his school, and she has them all scheduled as to what times they come in...Anyways, it's so great to see him growing up with it and that he's taken on quite a lot for being so young in taking care of himself. I realize and thank God, that it could be worse. That it wasn't cancer, and that Diabetes is somewhat to a point manageable, but I wouldn't wish any child or adult to have to deal with what my son and husband have to go through every day...The funny part of this story is my husband tells me the the other day...I only have to deal with are a few gray hairs and wrinkles....True! I do thank God for my husband too, because without him, I'm not sure if I'd ever made it through this far. I'm sure I could if I had too, but It's nice to have his support in helping me understand Diabetes better.

My son, Joshua's Birthday is Thursday, and I've always been interested in Scrapbooking, but I've allready got so much stuff, I couldn't see myself trying to store all the supplies needed, plus I could just see my 3 yo. 'lil angel girl getting in to it all. This is something I could get into. Not sure if this is the New Thing, but I'm really starting to like digi scrapping.
This design is from www.digitalscrapbookplace.com .
The pics are from when Josh was 5mos old, and his K pic.

Can you imagine how happy I was to see these Dark Pink Verbena thriving! It has been so Hot and so humid, I thought they'd burn up for sure, but they seem to like the heat. Just as it looks like it's going to rain, NOTHING!
The kids planted their own seeds. My son planted some sunflowers and my oldest daughter chose some Cosmos. The smile on his face when he saw them pop up was great, but then he got this kind of sad look. He looks at me and says, "Where are all the petals?"

13 Friendship quotes I'd like to share!
My sister-in-law sent me pics of my nieces this week, got me thinking about, she may be family, but I'm also lucky to have her as a friend. We've traded baby clothes, and baby swings. She hates when I tell the story about the first time I met her, she was 12 and rollerskated in her house, with ponytails and chewing gum. Now she's 28, and a fantastic mother, sister, and friend.
So this week I'm dedicating these friendship quotes to her and my nieces, may they be more than sisters, but best friends!
1.)A friend is a present you give yourself. -- Robert Louis Stevenson
2.)A friend hears the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails.-- Anonymous

4.)Friendship doubles our joy and divides our grief.-- Swedish proverb
5.)A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.-- Walter Winchell
6.)Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away.-George Eliot
7.)In prosperity, our friends know us; in adversity, we know our friends.-John Churton Collins
8.)Never Explain — your Friends do not need it and your Enemies will not believeyou anyway.-Elbert Hubbard
9.)Tis the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense, and have her nonsense respected-

11.)A friend is someone who dances with you in the sunlight, And walks with you in the shadows-Unknown
12.)He was a true friend, he stabbed me in the front-Unknown
13.)Be true to your work, your word, and your friend-Henry David Threau
A few words about these Lantana. My daughter and husband both agree, that these will not survive the week! I'm hoping to prove them wrong , that I do have a Hidden Green Thumb deep within me, and I can grow a garden into a desert oasis, or keep a plant alive longer than a week in the least. This pic will be the first of many. I'll be posting one every Sunday. I joined Tricia's
. I also bought some Red,White, and Blue Verbena for the Holidays, but becuase of the Monsoons,( no they haven't died ) the blossoms were blown off, I'm hoping to get a great pic of it for you soon.
